About
About HoursToPay
HoursToPay turns prices into hours of your work, so you can decide whether something is worth it before you check out.
A price tag tells you how much money something costs. It doesn't tell you how much of your life it costs. HoursToPay does. Type a price and your pay, and it shows how many minutes, hours or workdays you would need to work to pay for it.
What you can do with it
- Enter pay per hour, per day or per month, before or after tax.
- Price items in a different currency from your pay, using up-to-date exchange rates for 25 currencies.
- Compare a purchase to everyday things like coffee and meals.
- Plan how long it will take to save for something.
- Count monthly and yearly costs, like subscriptions, as hours of work a year.
- Work out the cost per use, and how many minutes of work each use costs.
- Share your result as an image or a link. Your pay is never included.
- Keep a wishlist and see its total cost in workdays.
Where it started
HoursToPay began in the Philippines as a small tool called "Sulit Ba?", which means "Is it worth it?". People found the idea useful wherever they lived, so it grew into a calculator for any country and currency.
Your data stays with you

Not financial advice
HoursToPay is a thinking tool. It does simple maths with the numbers you enter. It does not give financial, tax or legal advice, and the exchange rates are for estimates only.
